For students
Exam week, held.
Hand your study partner — or your roommate — the key to the apps that eat your revision time. They decide if you get a break early, and you do the same for them.
Study hours, not just bedtime.
Set a block for 2–6 pm on weekdays, or for the whole of exam week.
16¢ a night.
Pro is $59.99 a year. Pro for two splits to about 12¢ a night each — and holding a key is always free.
A break still exists.
Ask for fifteen minutes with a reason. If they say yes, the apps re-lock on their own.
Your roommate isn’t your parent.
They see requests and answers, never your messages.
How it works.
01
Pick the apps.
Instagram, TikTok, BGMI, YouTube — whichever ones take your nights. On iPhone, through Apple’s own Screen Time picker.
02
Set the hours.
Tonight by default: 9:30 pm to 7:00 am. Decide who can end it early — you after a delay, your keyholder, or nobody.
03
Hand someone the key.
A partner, a sibling, a study partner. Six characters and sixty seconds, on whatever phone they own.
04
Hold.
The shield goes up. Leaving early takes a reason and their answer — and every attempt to slip out lands on their phone.
Questions.
- Can I block apps only during study hours?
- Yes. A schedule is any days and hours you choose — weekday afternoons, the night before an exam, or all of exam week.
- Can two of us hold each other’s keys?
- Yes. Keys go both ways: block your own apps and hold your study partner’s key at the same time.
- Does my study partner need to pay?
- No. Holding someone’s key is free on every plan.
